Your Revenue Cycle Management Is Our Specialty
There’s a good reason why Physicians’ Service Center
is the premier medical billing service in Central and Northern
Illinois, Southern Wisconsin, and Northwestern Indiana. That’s
because, for more than three decades, we have served physician
practices in Pathology, Radiology, Anesthesiology, and Emergency
Medicine, meeting their billing challenges and providing smart
solutions to achieve your business goals. The following case histories
are just a few examples of our success stories.
Triage Begins a 20-year Relationship
The challenge:
Because its billing program had been mishandled for a year by the department
chairman’s son, a college student who had attempted to design a software
program to handle the practice’s
billing, a hospital-based practice had not submitted billing for an entire
year. As a result, it was at risk of losing thousands of dollars due to impending
deadlines.
The solution:
Because the one-year deadline for submission of public aid billing was fast
approaching, the 50-person PSC staff began a billing triage operation. For
many weeks, PSC dedicated a 24 hour operation to the client, organizing billing
priorities and preparing coding and insurance, so that data entry could be
completed. Then, PSC successfully submitted a year’s worth of billing
in time to meet carrier deadlines. The client has been with PSC for more than
20 years.
A Tale of Two States
The challenge: Facing the challenges of billing regulations
in two states, a hospital located on the Illinois state border decided
to take over its physician practices through a management services
organization (MSO). Focusing its attention on office-based specialties, the
hospital’s
billing staff virtually ignored billing for a hospital-based specialty
for over one year.
The solution: Once hospital auditors uncovered
the problem, they organized doctors’ credentials and obtained
signatures for application forms. PSC took over the hospital’s
department billing function. PSC calculated the fees and performed data
entry for payment recovery, recovering millions of dollars for the hospital.
Cost Effective Opportunities
The challenge:
A large, hospital-based group was frustrated
with the inability of a 14-person staff to keep current with billing. While
spending thousands on salaries and benefits, they were not effectively
managing their resources.
The solution: When the group replaced its in-house staff
with the services of PSC, they realized an immediate cost savings. Bills
were sent out on time, resulting in improved cash flow. Critical management
reports that the previous staff had been unable to execute were produced
timely. The practice realized a savings of more than $400,000 in the first
year.
